Philippe MARTIN and Antoine WUCHNER answered questions from a number of brewers who paid them a visit.
The questions remain the same, focusing particularly on the shortage of organic hops and ways to remedy it. The three-year conversion process is still required but, by 2021, 60 hectares should (barring accidents) be under cultivation in Alsace according to organic methods, something that should raise our profile.
Presentation of the new varieties and how to use them completed the topics of discussion. MISTRAL really got a lot of attention from brewers for its hints of lychee, rose and melon. But the other varieties, TRISKEL and BARBE ROUGE, continue to develop.
This trade fair was also an opportunity to:
- Present the modifications to our website
- Float the idea of an upcoming open day in Alsace in September 2019
All this was washed down by samples of beers made with Alsatian hops (in moderation).
