Francis HEITZ, Val PEACKOCK and Antoine WUCHNER presented the Alsatian aromatic varieties and the “FLAVOR” range, including BARGE ROUGE and the new MISTRAL.

Close to 13,000 attendees, (once again up by more than 20% over last year) were given an opportunity to discover the aromas of our varieties by tasting (as always with moderation) this year four beers brewed with these varieties

  • A Pils STRISSELSPALT brewed by Urban Chesnut brewery from St LOUIS – MO USA.
  • The « Pils Single Hop ARAMIS - YELLA» by Oskar Blues brewery from LONGMONT – CO USA.
  • A Pale Ale MISTRAL (HOP SWITCH) brewed by Urban Chesnut brewery from St LOUIS – MO USA
  • An IPA BARBE ROUGE brewed by Crux brewery from BEND – OR USA.

These two last beers were brewed using our new “FLAVOR” varieties, and were noted for their fine and subtle aromatics.

We met our clients and discussed recent trends in the US beer market, and concerning hops in particular.

Of course, all hop growers were present, offering an ever increasing number of new varieties, but once again the dynamic and impressive American craft brewing sector gave a surprising show during this entire annual event.

Next year’s meeting will be in WASHINGTON.
