Features of Comptoir Agricole attended the MBAA 2013

Comptoir-Agricole has attended the annual meeting of the MBAA (Master Brewers Association of the Americas) in Austin (Texas) from October 23 to 26, 2013.

During this conference Francis HEITZ, Val PEACOCK and Antoine WUCHNER were asked by the US brewers about the shortage of some of the main aroma hops this year, consequence of a bad crop in the biggest European production countries.

The opportunity is given the brewers to use Strisselspalt, Aramis or Triskel hops as a substitute or in combination with certain hops, whose availability is severely reduced this year.

Lots of US Craft Brewers that are getting very big should consider diversifying their sourcing areas to reduce the climate risk. The consistent Alsace production place appears as a solution.

This convention also was the opportunity to present new experimental in the field of "flavor hops”

Finally, the group took part to the workshop ‘’Flavor forward’’. A great opportunity to mix professional brewers and raw material supplier and to explore the sensory impact of different aroma hops. The tasting of single variety brews was particularly interesting and instructive.

The attendance was very good.

During these three days, they were able to measure one more time the impressive dynamism of the US Brewing industry through the number of promising contacts.
